Hello everyone! Welcome back to the blog. Today, I will be sharing a short summary and honest review of some books I have been enjoying during quarantine; without ruining the ending of course. 😉
- American Royals : American Royals is fictional novel set in the present day. After the US won the American Revolution, George Washington became king. and his descendants have set on the throne ever since. King George IV now reigns, but his children, Princesses Beatrice and Samantha and Prince Jefferson, have lots of drama of their own.
This was an incaptivating, interesting, humoreos and classic novel. I loved the characters, the drama, the fashion, the stories and the descriptive wording! Anyone who dreams of being royalty, loves fashion, is enthralled with history and is proud of their country will love this book! I rated it with 4/5 stars because it was a bit hard to follow at times and got a little bit slow, but it is a truly wonderful book! I would definetely reccomend!
2. Anna K: A Love Story : At age seventeen, Anna K is at the top of Manhattan and Greenwich society (even if she prefers the company of her horses and dogs over that of humans); she has the perfect (if perfect means boring) boyfriend, Alexander W.; and she has always made her Korean-American father proud (even if he can be a little bit controlling). Anna’s brother, Steven, and his girlfriend, Lolly, are trying to hide a serious scandal; and Lolly’s little sister, Kimmie, is struggling to recalibrate to normal life after an injury derails her ice dancing career. Steven’s best friend, Dustin, is madly (and one-sidedly) in love with Kimmie. A mix of the Real Housewives of New York City, Gossip Girl and Crazy Rich Asians, this novel is sure to leave readers on their toes and wishing for more.
This book is truly my favorite book that I have ever read. I have read many books in my lifetime, but this book was by far my favorite. It is hard to explain why I loved it so much, but anyone who loves drama, gossip, fashion, scandal, NYC, Greenwich, and the stories of Manhattan’s elite will love this book. There is loads of drama, dozens of designer dresses, private jets, Greenwich parties, New Years Eve bashes, and characters that you will fall in love with. This was undoubtedly my favorite book I have ever picked up.
3. True Prep : It’s a Whole New Old World : From Lisa Birnbach, the author of The Official Preppy Handbook, comes True Prep, which looks at how the old guard of natural-fiber-loving, dog-worshipping, G&T-soaked preppies adapts to the new order of the Internet, cell phones, rehab, political correctness, reality TV, and . . . polar fleece.
A book exploring and reporting on the world of prep; from prep-school to sailing, cocktails to rehab, and why we love our dogs, this book highlights the world that we, well some of us, live in. This somewhat satirical novel uses wry humor and a judging tone to poke fun at scandals and mistakes that have kept individuals from reaching their true preppy potential, while providing guidance and support on how you, yes you, can unleash your inner prep. I rated this book with 3.5/5 stars because it was not nearly as fun as the original Preppy Handbook written in the 80’s. It is still a great read that kept me interested for the most part, but I prefered the classic.
